Franklin County Local Food Council, along with the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Action Plan, is excited to announce the call for nominations for the first Local Food Champion Award!

What is the Local Food Champion Award
An award that gives the Food Council and the Local Food Action Plan the opportunity to recognize and celebrate grassroots community efforts to create a food system that benefits ALL people.
Up to two awards may be given per quarter. Award winners will be recognized on the Food Council’s website (www.fclocalfoodcouncil.org/local-food-award/) and during a Food Council meeting. Local Food Action Plan’s legislative sponsors, Columbus City Council and Franklin County Board of Commissioners will be notified of awardees. The first award winner(s) will be recognized during the March 20, 2019 Franklin County Local Food Council Meeting 4:30-6:00 pm at 240 Parson Ave, Columbus OH 43215. Meetings are open to the general public.
Who Can Apply
Individuals, groups, organizations, agencies, or institutions that live, work, play and or worship in Franklin County, OH, and have shown significant impact in the goal areas below:
Enhance coordination and communication among existing food resources and agencies.
Improve access to and education about healthy food, affordable food and local food.
Increase the role of food in economic development.
Prevent food-related waste

Someone from the Franklin County Local Food Council will be in contact with nominators by early March to share the award results. A Food Council member may request additional information from the nominee prior to award decisions.
